My Wings

by Just Sierra   May 10, 2008

Black clouds rolled in, heaven cried,
The stars fell from the black,
That night, I swear, I lost myself
In the hope to never come back.

I made a vow to grow those wings,
Mommy told me they were great,
The ones bestowed upon the angels
When they passed the Golden Gate.

With those wings, white and glowing,
I'd fly away, through snow and rain,
To find a place that's far from here,
Where I'll never feel this pain.

One day, I swore to God himself,
I'll break these chains that bind me.
I'll free myself from pain, from life,
And these judgments that define me.

Next time these black clouds roll in,
And the stars fall from the sky
I'll have my wings; I'll take a leap;
I'll hold my breath and fly.
