I wish I may, I wish I might

by Rikki   May 11, 2008

A dark walk down a hidden path
Groping, groping through nothingness
Where is your hand?
Can you see the end yet?
Almost there, almost there, Love.

It comes like a wave, the soft, cool sand.
Falling, slipping through our feet.
Can you see the fireflies?
They twinkle and sparkle from across the way
Do they know they’re not alone?

The water hums for us a melody, far and away.
The sand is a pillow beneath our heads,
the world upside down.
A light streams across the sky
Did you see that?
I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight.

As the stars wink at me, I wonder:
A more beautiful night, could there be?
Lying next to him, the only response is:
I think not.
