Last Goodbye

by Erica   May 11, 2008

Grandma and Grandpa grew together
Their love, as soft as a feather
She didn't have time to say goodbye
He passed away in the blink of an eye
Time flew by as if a clock were in a race
She will never forget the memories
And the sweet kisses he used to leave on her face

It was an unexpected moment to occur
They were high school sweethearts
Their love went off the scale and off the charts
One phone call put a stop to everything
She paused and looked down at her wedding ring
"Mrs your husband has had a heart attack"
She did nothing with her emotions and held back
She could not believe what she just heard
This cant be real, this is beyond absurd

It took a while to hit her
Lonely nights and lonely winters
She sleeps with the light on now
He is still with her in spirit
For that she will not disavow
At night she still cries and cries
Thoughts of him still run through her mind
Because their love had no boundaries
It was much deeper, to them, it was blind
