Peach Tree

by HollywoodSmile   May 14, 2008

"When Daddy told me
you were coming...
to be honest,
i didn't care.

But soon our friendship sprouted,
growing stronger every day,
until it became the love living only
among brother and sister.

My secrets were safe
between your ears,
leaves held by your careful branches
seeds buried in cold earth.

you waste your days
on video games,
battleing monstrous,
mythical demons.

All the while
you slaughtered my demons;
my fears, mistakes and sins,
as buds began to bloom and flower.

you steal my hairbrush,
hide my left shoes,
while planting confidence
and self-worth.

you pruned my branches
and tended to my leaves
until confident, welcoming fruit blossomed,
replacing all rot and decay.

you mock me, you annoy me,
you intentionally crawl beneath my skin,
you have become
my dear big brother.

the gardener turns to go
as i slowly realize
that Winter is coming fast
and i will fall dormant, yet again.

What compramise could i make...
who will plant more seeds?
What words could i say....
Who will prune my branches?

What life could i live...
Without my older brother?
How does a Peach Tree grow...
Without sweet Mother Nature?"
