Snow Angels

by Juliet   May 18, 2008

Saw you over there
Laughing with your friends
Remembered all the times
How they came and went

Times we used to play
Times we used to laugh
Times we used to share
Times that were ours

Swinging on the swings
Rolling in the grass
Jumping in the leaves
Sledding down the hills

All my childhood
Was spent with you
But now that we're grown
I never see you

We were snow angels
Playing in the snow
Spreading our arms and legs
Out far and wide

Trying to stand up
Without destroying them
Never failing to succeed
In falling down on them

Laughing as we threw
Snowballs at each other
When they went down our shirts
Yours sending chills down my back

Sipping hot chocolate
And burning our tongues
Whipped cream fights
Just to clean it up

But it was those times
That we stared at the stars
That meant the most to me
And are my best memories

We thought about our future
Wondering where we would be
Would we fall upon the stars?
Or not go that far?

You to the coast
To star in movies
I to the jungle
To save all the trees

Our paths were different
But we weren't scared
We were sure that we
Would repeat the year over again

But next year came
And next year went
The phone never rang
With your name on it

We went our separate ways
And made new friends
But maybe one day
We'll make snow angels again
