Ants on Parade

by lana   May 18, 2008

We walk through the grass
like ants on parade
carrying all that we need on our backs
and we head for home, and set out again
we are a busy colony of two.

so we roll through the fields
like dogs in the park
so happy to have our freedom
and we bark and dance and sing
knowing forever is never enough

we make calls through the night
like lone birds calling for company
like the love i find here with you
and we watch the birds pair off and fly
saying hey theyre just like us

now we lay in the grass
like the kids that we are
and through the long green blades
i see your smiling face in the shade
and your fingertips move through my hair,
like the ants on parade
beneath us
