Sonnet 1 (Lay Your Head upon My Lap)

by Sam   May 19, 2008

Lay your head upon my lap,
And rest your eyes, my love.
Pray, let me stroke your curly cap;
You dream of what's above.

I'll kiss your forehead, stroke your cheek,
And in my lap you'll lie.
The solitude you once did seek
You've found, you give a sigh.

Have you a burden? Do you tire?
Come here and rest with me!
I wait for you with such desire -
Come here, set your cares free.

So close your eyes and let it be
While in my arms. Just you and me.
