Home "Sweet" Home

by Stacey de Luna   May 21, 2008

The war of words rages on
Between a husband and a wife
As their young children open an ear
To the sound of their everyday life
The screams crack the bedroom walls
The hand slides across her face
She crashes to the tiled floor
As the man walks out of that place
Another night of endless tears
Another night in pain
The children huddle in their room
As the dad heads out in the rain
The father slams the front door shut
A frame crashes to the floor
The "home sweet home" photo taken years ago
Now rests in front of the door
The roof begins to crumble down
On the father, now living alone
On the mother, laying in her empty bed
And on the kids, waiting for Dad to come home
