With all my heart and soul

by Diane   May 21, 2008

Where are you
Are you here with me still
Are you back in the consciousness
Are you by my side, in the trees, in the air I breath

Can I breath you in
Can I hold your heart
Can I gaze into your eyes
Can I feel the raise and fall of your sighs

Remembering those last days
How we never imagined that they were the last
How we fought to pull you through yet again
For just a few more special precious moments

You told me I knew you best of all
You wished for a different day
You tried to feel better
You were so sad

You fought through the confusion
And the helplessness
Then recognized me and called me yours
You ask me if I loved you

With all my heart and soul

I tried to comfort you
Pain medicine already taking you from me
I rubbed your temples, cooled your brow
Heard you moan as if to awaken again

It's not fair but
It's not fair to have you linger
The final IV for a sleep from which you would never return
Was now in your veins

I heard your last breath
I watched your last tear
I watched your pain disappear
And gave you my last kiss

I am screaming...
