Late

by The Black Angel Lloyd Rose   May 25, 2008

We began as one, just you and me,
You said we're done; you said I'm free.
I don't understand; What went wrong?
You just smiled and I hurt all along.

I tried to hold you up; You tried to push me down,
I still don't see just why i stuck around.
You wanted the sun; I am the eclipse.
You wanted my heart, but you wanted his lips.

Ill never understand, even if I try,
I gave you truth and you threw back lies.
You slapped me in the face, but i never looked away.
But I'm glad you turned your back; It's better off this way.

But now it's in the past, I sit here and recall,
You've no foundation; surely you're to fall.
And you'll be alone; I won't be there,
Soon you'll see, but it's too late for me to care.

You got what you wanted. I turned and didn't stay.
So don't try to hold on 'cause you pushed me away.
We went our separate paths; this road I walk alone,
Even if you loved me, it's too late to be shown.
