One True Friend

by sweet_rebellion   May 27, 2008

Walking through the crowded hallways
people are dodging back and forth
shouting to one another,
either friendly greetings
or impatient remarks
all of this is so surreal to comprehend
as I keep walking
people begin to blur
and it seems as if time freezes
as I'm making my way
through every obstacle
each person has their place,
except for me.
As for my place? I haven't one
though in a way that is my place
I don't fit in to my surroundings
I never have.
A plastic smile decorates my face
silently I'm nodding and waving to my pretend friends,
who go about their pretend lives
as I am left alone once more
my only real friend is the person
who likes me exactly the way I am
shes always with me,
her faithfulness is appalling
my true and very best friend
that I know if I talk to
shes all ears and not once will
interrupt, not once will ignore me
this one and only friend of mine
....is me
