Essence

by Coinneail   May 28, 2008

A light heartbeat is heard.
Gasps of joy are exchanged.
The little bundle is gathered closer to her bosom.
A light touch made, one moves the fabric.
The rosy cheeks upon the small face grows.
Smiles are also exchanged between the two lovers.

The silence that followed the news,
Was unbearable and just now broken,
All this time they thought they would not be accepted.
This love that cuddled close was more then needed,
But surely wanted.

Valleys, streams, tall grass and Oak,
Peaceful rumblings of water,
Wind slightly passing with the essence of life.
Unknown, comes the deadly counterpart.
They are one in the same, both life and death.
Tears streaming for both.

The newfound member of the family was a shocker.
Other members should have realized.
The partners have wanted a family.
A few found this commitment too much,
Felt it unnecessary.

The negativity caused the lovers and their young child,
to relocate, to states at a large distance.
This felt right for some time.

Around and around the lad ran.
Faster and fast, surpassing his peers.
Sweat dripped down his face, past his smile,
The persistence there.
His moms cheered him on as he ran,
A second later, one wrong step,
Face met Tar.
Just barely passing the finishing line.
Lights blared as faces and bodies crowded him.
The tears of fans were mixed in with the love.
A flash of light later he felt himself...drifting...

The two voices he knew best were now in whispers, praying.
Movement cold no be done, he tried, but failed.
His eyes flickered moments later,
When the loss of blood was too great.

Valleys, streams, tall grass and Oak,
Peaceful rumblings of water,
Wind slightly passing with the essence of life.
Unknown, comes the deadly counterpart.
They are one in the same, both life and death.
Tears streaming for both.

They found themselves now back.
Back to the town where they met.
Nothing bounded them physically,
they could no longer live where they had.
A new journey awaited them and they knew it.
They just didn't know where to...

Months later they found themselves,
Peering out at a scene neither could forget.
Far off was an old castle, it held time itself in its walls.
Grass so green it may have never turned brown,
Coating hills that rolled.

Sitting up against a grand tree the two held each other.
"I can't part from you."
"Nor I, from you."
For these words were set in stone,
A tightening came to one's throat.
Searching through her wind breaker,
panic spread across the other's face.
Mere desperate moments later,
A fate had repeated.
Once again a love has been stricken from her.

Valleys, streams, tall grass and Oak,
Peaceful rumblings of water,
Wind slightly passing with the essence of life.
Unknown, comes the deadly counterpart.
They are one in the same, both life and death.
Tears streaming for both.

Tears streamed unending for both,
as they poured continuously...
