Chernika

by Tom Cheriyan   May 28, 2008

Dedicated to Chernika, a pet cat that was put to sleep on 26-05-08 because of ill-health (Chernika in Russian means bilberry)

Just one day when things looked fine,
No grey clouds, golden sunshine,
My world turned upside down,
Cancer, robbery, what do I hear next,
I lost a friend, no fault of mine.
A dear, dear friend, with eyes so divine.

As I held her, my heart sunk low,
But I knew she'll be OK, if I let her go.
So with a painful heart, in my arms she slept,
Dreaming of a future, as painless winds swept.
Then I heard a whisper from nowhere, quietly as I wept,
"Thank you dear one for releasing me,
Thank you my friend for taking care of me."
