My twenty year wife

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   May 30, 2008

My twenty year wife

For many odd years you've shared my life
But this is the twentieth you've spent as my wife
Through good times and bad times we've stuck together
To me you'll always be beautiful forever

As hard as flint you can sometimes be
But also soft and resilient and forgiving to me
Heaven is as your warm embrace
As I gaze upon your beautiful face

Your lips upon my throat, my eyes and my ears
I listen to your sensual sighs
As my tummy tightens and my hearts all aflutter
For your sight I've become all but a glutton

As I ponder upon this ungainly prose
My heart goes to you my desert rose
For riches are one thing I may never have
But you're my Aladdins cave, my wonderland

A sigh on my ear or your softest touch
I never thought I could ask for this much
When you walk with me hand in hand
A taller man will not be seen, upon this land

A formidable adversary and my very best friend
I pray that you'll be there right up to the end
For the one thing I've wanted more than my life
Was you there next to me, to share as my wife

You mothered our children you gave them life
And I thank you for this my beautiful wife
If there's one thing I'm thankful for in this wonderful life
It's that God gave you to me, my twenty year wife

Thank you Elsie my love
I've loved you for twenty years, and forever
You're my heart and my soul, you're the very air that I breathe
I love you and I'll love you for all eternity and a day

Another lucky poet to understand and enjoy the pains and pleasures of love. 20 years pass quickly and even quicker when the time becomes 40 and the flicker of eternity is right around the corner. a nice write and a nice flow of words from your poets pen. Peace

We long so much for the word" love" to come simply and the fact that you ended your lines as you did is just wonderful.......It all sums up beautifully.

"I love you and I'll love you for all eternity and a day"

"Eternity "sounds good, but "a day" more is mindblowing!!!Your wife is very lucky and blessed having you .Bless you both.

    Best wishes,
    Grace
