Bravery, Hopefully

by ALEX   Jun 1, 2008

The monster in his cage
steps out once again.
Unwillingly, he walks
towards the windows.
Seeing what could be ahead,
he backs right down, shaken with dread;
Quivers below the covers of his monster bed.

My heart
sees the truth,
but something in my brain
urges me not to let loose

The sound
of my soul-
the part of me I
want to let someone get to know.

In his dreams, he walks the world-
he bathes in the light.
The people in the street
no longer scream at the sight.
He sees what does lie ahead,
but keeps right on, despite the dread;
Emerges from the covers of his monster bed.

The truth,
if there's love...
It's something that I
want to feel, but am too scared to touch.
