Anesthesia

by The Apathetic Emo   Jun 1, 2008

Put me to sleep
Then bury me deep
So nothing disturbs my slumber

Kidnapped by dreams
Laden with screams
Yet nirvana they fail to encumber

For even nightmares
With all their despairs
To me feel like paradise

As I'm sure you'll find
In every mind
Whose life they wish to excise

So hum and tweedle
Then stick in the needle
Let me hear one more lullaby

Turn out the light
Time to say goodnight
And I won't be waking up this time

I enjoyed reading this one. It has a great flow and rhymes that helped emphasize the mood of the poem. It sort of felt calm to me, yet troubled by the concious reality. I feel like that a lot. Like I would rather stay sleeping forever and not have to worry about opening my eyes and what lies in front of them. I especially like the lines "So hum and tweedle/then stick in the needle" that create the image which is the title of this work. Very well done, darling.
