Culling of the Seals Pt 2

by Simply Josh   Jun 4, 2008

(seal's point of view)

This year millions more saw the light
Not a great sight
Our fight was lost
At such great cost

It started off a glorious day
Full of sun ray
The ice was pure
That I assure

Then it turned red from the bloodshed
It quickly spread
No time to act
Many were hacked

I witnessed as my friend's fell
Unable to move, unable to think
I heard their screams, their yells
But all I could do was blink

A sharp blade penetrated their skin
My tears rolled down my face
My agony, my rage I kept within
These memories I can't erase

As I wondered around the ice
All alone with no one left
I asked myself a series of "Why's?"
Why this killing, why this theft?

They stole their life
And made mine unlivable
I'm now in strife
Their act is unforgivable

Green with envy were their eyes
Unrelenting, uncaring
All they cared about was their enterprise
Booming, unsparing

Look at our world now
Why's money in control?
And I just wonder how
This death toll won't fall

Humane killing
Is what they say
But how is killing
Humane anyway?

* I wrote both poems for my oral presentation in which we had to present our point of view on a controversial issue and it had to be persuasive and I chose the culling and we got extra marks for taking on personas haha. Anyway part 1 includes a 'Terza Rima' except it only has 8 syllables instead of 11 as well as a 'limerick' style of poetry while this poem has a 'minute' poetry to start it. Hope you guys like it :)
cheers, josh
