Days (Slam Poem)

Not a day goes by
Where I don't think of you
Not a day goes by
Where I don't wonder what you're going through

Not a day goes by
Where I don't want to see that smile
Because it shows your happiness
Which to see, is worthwhile

It's stunning, glistening, enticing
And second to none
Therefore I'd gladly give up my joy
To witness you having fun

For every time you become sad
I too feel your sorrow
Every teardrop puts a crack in my heart
And I wonder "why live tomorrow?"

Then another day goes by
With you walking past
And me stopping all
So in your glory, I can bask

But that is simply it
All of those are just days
With some more memorable than others
Although it's really just a reoccurring phase

A phase where I'm unnoticed
A phase where I'm a ghost
A phase where I'm invisible
A phase where I'm lost

Because not a day goes by
Where you notice my affection
Not a day goes by
Where you glance at my direction

Yet through all this mistreatment
I can't seem to let you go
Which just adds to my misery
And adds to this sorrow

But perhaps another day will pass
Where your eyes will meet with mine
Oh what a wondrous day that would be
What a wondrous day indeed
