In the Hurting Time

by Corinne   Jun 5, 2008

This is a lyric that was originally part of a writing challenge from a couple of years ago to use all the song titles from an album - I chose Annie Lennox's album "Bare" - I have since revised the work, and while some song titles remain, others are gone.

In The Hurting Time
Copyright 2008 Corinne Curcio

V1
Every day I start to sing
The saddest song I've got
Missing A thousand beautiful things
I think that I have not

Pre-Chorus1
If I would just open my eyes
And forget the seconds ticking by

Chorus1
Words would no longer fall out of rhyme
And I would no longer find that I'm
Lost and forsaken and unable to climb
Out from the pavement cracks
Why has the clock stopped
In the Hurting Time

V2
My thoughts get twisted and turned
And my heart refuses to mend
Lessons have become unlearned
And the rain falls without end

Pre-Chorus - 2
If loneliness could be erased
Tears brushed away without a trace

Chorus 2
I'd no longer lean out the windowsill
Looking for an empty space to fill
Not let regret haunt me still
Oh where is my life sublime?
Why has the clock stopped
In the Hurting Time

Bridge
Hands and sands are frozen
Can't move on, can't look back
Could it be that I have chosen
To run in place on this track?

Chorus1
Words would no longer fall out of rhyme
And I would no longer find that I'm
Lost and forsaken and unable to climb
Out from the pavement cracks
Why has the clock stopped
In the Hurting Time
