Don't look down

by Alter Ego For Rent   Jun 16, 2008

Someday, i'm going to be on top of the world.
i'm not going to have bruises on my skull.
i'm not going to have bruises in my skull.

someday, i'm going to be high above you.
and i'll never look down.
you were always afraid of heights, now weren't you?

i'm glad that you are, so that i can finally be above you.

and we're higher than you could ever believe where we're not afraid, and we're not afraid of our fears.

we won't want to go back to a place
of brittle secrets
and failed excuses for thousands of memories lost.

and we'll never have to ask ourselves what we would do if we got to where we're going and all we want to do is leave.

someday, very far away, we will wake up
and we will not have to regret last night.

i'm glad you're dead.
when the angels ask you who did it
i know you'll point a shaking index finger straight at me.

but i'm still glad you're dead.
oh god, i swear you'll never be above me.
