Slowly Burning

by Amaranthine   Jun 19, 2008

I see the evil and hate in the flames;
As it slowly burns into my eyes.
There is nothing I can do while I hear the screams and cries.
My mind shocked, my heart and body scared, So I find a place to hide.
It spreads so fast covering the ground and stretching toward the sky.
The ghastly smoke all around me, unable to breath , unable to die.
It fills my lungs and chest making it impossible to speak.
Life flashes before my eyes as I lay here and weep.
I am being engulfed in flames. Is this supposed to be a test?
If it is, I have failed. The only thing left to do is rest.
I can go on no longer...
Death awaits me, as I sit here and linger, Slowly Burning.
