Desperation

by InvisiblyHeartless   Jun 20, 2008

The darkness shifts, the breathing comes quicker
Somewhere the quiets eyes bug out at the silence
Always has it been without the thought of hope
They want to be free to smile and laugh...again
The door is locked; the key thrown away
Light burns under the edge of the heavy door
It is unreachable, impossibly too far away
There might be hope, someone to rescue them
Stale air to breathe, tears always to come
Only since she was in this dark room
The key is worth more than all the gold in the world
They all tell stories of grabbing the key long ago
Just for it to be take away repeatedly and forever
Torture and self-pity, they all once knew joy
Now they all want to stay in the darkness
She said she was going to be freed easily
Some say she's specíal, but I say she's totally crazy
No one makes it back out the thick trap door
The golden key is too hard to chance at
She was a smart, determined youngster
We all knew the truth, She wouldn't make it
It's all the same simple story, tragic darkness
There's death and heartbreak, pain and loneliness
On the other side that they all used to call home
But only they wallow behind the door
She desperately searches for the lost key
Touching it, grabbing it, losing it again
That's the way it works, that's simply life
