From Crucificion to Celebration

by HiddenPoet   Jun 26, 2008

Betrayed by Judas,
one of his own
Jesus was nailed to a cross
as his throne

Sorrow was shown
deep within his eyes
As his blood and his sweat
wept for those who despised

Below, dividing his belongings
by throwing the dice,
The guards taunted Jesus
with words cold as ice

"Save yourself, save yourself,
o' healer divine!"
He did not, for hes suffered
for the sins of yours and mine

Upon the cross,
the Lamb hung slain
Until his sprirt was lifted
from all humanly pain

And, at this moment,
the Earth shook, the wind blew
And all around knew
that Jesus was true

His body was placed
in a solemn, stone tomb
Alone in his death,
the dark and the gloom

But, in three days time,
just as he had said
Jesus defeated Death
and rose from the dead

He then traveled long
to his disciples to meet
To show them his life,
wounded hands, and scarred feet

To them and to us,
Jesus stood as the Son
So we all might know
that God's grace has won

Jesus, who was crucified,
yet now who has risen
He sets us all free,
our sins are forgiven

Have you ever thought of writing praise songs and giving them to your church choir or send them to groups like Mercyme? You have so much talent and your words inspire the rest of us to praise His name..
