PORTRAIT

by Alex Joyaux   Jul 7, 2008

The picture hung magestically
Inside its gilded frame
The man reflected in its wake
Was all that one could see

His manner unassuming
His jaw arranged with pride
His cigar held carelessly
His knowing, smiling eyes

A portrait of a man who lived
Hung for all to see
Resting on a tattered wall
Hung responsibly

Oh how I'd like to visit
Oh how I'd like to be
Lost within that grandest time
One of simplicity
