Insomnia

by Raychil   Jul 7, 2008

My eyes stare into darkness
They redden and run dry
If I could obtain any rest
I'd surely have to die

The minutes pass so slowly
And still I remain here
My body weak, my mind asleep
My eyes hazed and unclear

This typing should be effortless
But my fingers are so heavy
And as I lift them up and down
They shake, so unsteady

The clock hits 4am
Why am I still awake?
I haven't slept the past 2 nights
How much longer will this take?

It always works out this way
I stay up night after night
And obtaining any sleep
Is always such a fight

My heartbeat is slowing down
My eyelids start to fall
Finally my body
Will answer sleep's call..
