Day of Enlightenment

by AcidQuicksilver   Jul 10, 2008

Tears were falling
From the eyes of the angels
They felt the torture of
The Holocaust
The poverty of a Great Depression
Among the rays of the sun
And neverending fields of clouds
Below the sky
Torrents of unwelcome sin
Broke free
The moment Eve made
The legendary mistake
Heading straight for disaster
While above
Angels wonder
What can be done
To save this race?
Heavenly bodies whisper of a day
Soon to come
When all of mankind
Will learn of their tragic flaws
And save themselves from
Their own destruction
A girl in her dreams
Heard the whispers of the angels
And woke with a start
Warning others
Of the Day of Enlightenment
And it's approach
Some were scared
Others excited
But all those with a soul
Anticipated this day
And when it came
The clouds in the tempestuous sky
Above opened up
And revealed a light so bright
That if the light weren't holy
It would have made all blind
God revealed himself
And spoke in a voice so thunderous
Volcanoes rose from the ground
Beneath human feet
"You betrayed my vision
Destroying the Earth with every
Environmentally unhealthy footprint
You leave in it's soil
Be grateful of this paradise
For beyond the reaches of space and time
There are no more trees
And no more oceans
As for how you treat one another
Hate will only lead you to the gates of Hell
Learn that forgiveness
Is an essential part
In living a full life
What soul would not prefer
Dying more peacefully
And living like the greatest king
After your physical form has left you?"
God left the visual presence of man
Melted back into the clouds
The sun peaked around a puff of white
And all of mankind
Looked toward the sky with hope
They started a new way of life
As close as it could get to
An Adam and Eve paradise
