Little Rachel

by Dacey Flame   Jul 11, 2008

Tiny footprints fall behind me

I don't understand you, little Rachel

Blonde curls and bangs in your face

Tiny and pale with light eyes

You harbor wisdom beyond your eight years

Every word you say

A surprise, a new look at you

Layer upon layer of emotion

Beating the numb standard

Pushed onto your shoulders at birth

Smart, smart little girl

You know how imaginative you are

You're self assured

You truly don't even see

What anyone else sees
