All I Have Left - Song

by Corinne   Jul 14, 2008

This is actually a poem I wrote last year, that I've turned into a song. It's meant to be sort of Poe-ish.

All I Have Left
Copyright Corinne Curcio 7/13/08

Was that her footstep on the stairs
Where my lady once did tread
With candelabra to light her way
To what had been our bed?

Was that her shadow I saw pass
As I read for a long while?
Her portrait hanging overhead
Seems to wear a secret smile

I heard her piano softly play
Music that made me weep
Dust on the keys been disturbed
After all these years asleep

Death, you came to claim her
With a hiss of your cold breath
Her bones are resting in the ground
Her ghost is all I have left
