Language of the Dead

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Jul 16, 2008

There are screams
Echoing from a distance.
They're ear-piercing;
Bone-chilling -
I feel my blood run cold.
Where do these screams come from?
Why does no one else
Seem to hear them?
Are they in my head?
Am I going crazy?
WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM?

They become louder
As I approach you.
Do these screams come from you?
Are you trying to tell me something?
What is it?
Why do you scream like that?
Why do you seem to be
Engulfed by such pain;
Such anguish?
Am I the only one who hears
Your cries of torment?

I now understand -
This is the language of the Dead.
Only those who care enough to listen
Will ever hear it.
You're alive,
But inside you're dying.
I realise what your cries are about.
I feel your pain -
I was once there too.
We're dying on the inside
And no one cares to hear
Our screams;
No one cares to try and understand
This language we have created;
The language of the Dead...
