The Only Light in the Shadow of Goodbye

by Amaranthine   Jul 17, 2008

How dim...
Oh, so dim.
This fake reality

Touching the frozen cold window...
Fingertips gently moving across;
This blood stained glass.

Purple lips in the red snow.
Clouds covering this fog-filled night.
Angels awakening once more.

Singing the sweetest lullaby in my ear.
A promise to never let go;
Past tense because it was only a lie.

Losing your grip made me fall backwards;
Into the darkness away from the light.
Remorse of leaving you behind hurts.

Body couldn't take the stress from your shadow.
Following me everywhere,
Mocking every step taken.

Being within me you must know...
Holding this blade was the only way I could go,
Yearning to lose you, but wanting you close.

Pain numb from the realization;
Looking at my dead reflection in the broken glass...
You still linger at my side.

Stuck between Heaven and Hell
I can still hear your whispers and even your laughs.
Thinking this was our final goodbye...

Is this how it feels to truly be alive?
