Untitled, Circa December 2007

by Jacob Davis   Jul 17, 2008

You say that you care, but you don't.
You say that you'll always be there, but you won't.
You say that I am the man of your dreams,
but you force me to think these things.
You say that you care, but you won't...
...forever.

Your interest is persistently fading,
while my love for you's consistently heartbreaking.
The man of your dreams,
or just a tool of your schemes...
...you say that you care, but you won't...
...not forever.

The itching under my skin,
what you've done to me is still sinking in.
Just a tool in your schemes,
are these moods just a theme?
you say that you care, but you won't...
...no, not forever.

The healing ensues time and time again,
we dance around the topic now and then.
If this is just a theme,
and things are not always what they seem...
...then why don't you just be mine...
...yes, forever...

(Poets Notes: Our relationship is very back and forth. In that, she gets upset because I won't propose, but I get upset because she's always down. Most of our problems are because we only) see each other once a week, and on a scheduled basis, and for 3 years. We bicker, 99% of which is brought on because of the distance, which turns into me doubting the need to stay together. The end of this poem was intended to let her know that I want to propose to her soon, but it turned into another argument and was taken way out of context. We now, are falling apart, 7 months later)
