What took you so long?

by Jacob Davis   Mar 2, 2009

Staring at the city from high upon the rock peaks,
You're shivering in my jacket but you still stay close to me.
The night could last forever, but who could ever foresee,
The connection we would make would ever be..

Chorus:
Who are you to make me feel this way?
Tell me stranger, who gave you the right,
To take my pain and suffering away?
Why did you wait so long to show up,
Why did you wait so long to show up
Who are you to make me feel this way?
Tell me how you knew,
That I couldn't take it another day.

The two of us seem bonded in a past life,
Backgrounds of loss, pain, struggle and strife.
I can see that you want me by just gazing in your eyes,
And could kiss you through the night, wrapped up in my arms where you'll hide.
Sleep tight through the starry night,
I promise when you wake I'll still be at your side.

Chorus:

And when you woke up, I was still there.
And when you looked at me, we could only stare.
Into each others eyes as if struck by starlight,
I hold you closer and whisper "everything is gonna be alright"

Who are you to make me feel this way?
Tell me stranger, who gave you the right,
To take my pain and suffering away?
Why did you wait so long to show up,
Why did you wait so long to show up
Who are you to make me feel this way?
Tell me how you knew..
Who are you to make me feel this way?
Tell me stranger, who gave you the right,
To take my pain and suffering away?
Why did you wait so long to show up,
Why did you wait so long to show up
Who are you to make me feel this way?
Tell me how you knew..

...How did you know?
