The World

by Kenzie Renea   Jul 19, 2008

World has famine
girls worry about weight
when there are children dying
who have faced their fate

we worry about money
and what everything is worth
when children get murdered
even before birth.

the president sends off troops to war
knowing most will die
when even with his logic
he doesn't understand why

the mother waits at home
her boy is dead on the ground
she's felt so alone
now that he's not around

people kill
more than they save
and it leads them
to their very grave

serial killers
and rapists gone wild
another newspaper headline
another missing child

gas prices sky rocket
her parents work and aren't there
what about their depressed daughter?
why won't they care?

everything's changing
in front of our eyes
we don't even notice
and yet's it's not in disguise

hold on to what you have
because it might be gone
for all you know
you might not have long

medicines are too expensive
his mother is dying
the boy is praying
but he won't stop crying

they only help
if they're on tv
but publicity isn't helping
don't they see?

make someone smile
we're running out of time
it won't save the world
it won't stop crime

but here's your chance
to make it right
just be happy
you've made it through another night.
