If A Tree Falls In The Forest

by BornAgainWriter   Jul 20, 2008

To me, poetry is easy
Well, not good poetry.
Just the stuff I write

I'm not trying to
paint magnificent murals
across start studded tapestries
Discovering new continents,
Worlds,
Planets,
or Galaxies.

I'm not trying to
Unlock your mind,
unravel time,
or reach into the sublime
and pull out a bunny doing a jig
Continue on to my next trick

Hell
I'm not trying to
get laid
Though that has happened before
(Grinning as I write this)

I'm not trying
Period

Most of the shit I write
comes to me
Somewhere between
the present and never
I just happen to be properly placed
to notice

This may come across as arrogant
and if that does, fine
I pick honesty above all other traits
Because I can grandstand
Holding my efforts above me
Like I've achieved something brilliant
They don't compare to
the Eiffel tower
Mona Lisa
Hubble Teliscope
Or a mother birthing a child

If anything
I should be thanking you
the reader
the listener
Taking my meaning
and constructing your own
For words are nothing
if there are no others
to decipher
and build
Upon them
