The Story Of Us.

by Just Keara   Jul 23, 2008

It all started when they were young,
Barely seventeen.
That was when nothing really mattered,
Only their hopes and dreams.

She was the shy one
and didn't have too many friends.
He was the total opposite, the clown
*Listen closely, I won't say it again.

She was walking home one day,
and she was all by herself.
A car drove by and splashed mud all over her--
she dropped her books, she needed help.

He was not too far behind,
And he was with his buddies.
When they all saw her, they laughed,
But he didn't think it was funny.

He shushed his friends and aided her,
She thanked him but turned him down.
And when he saw the sorrow in her face,
He too started to frown.

He let her go that day,
But only because she'd asked him.
And he realized afterwards,
that he had let a great oppurtunity pass him.

Weeks went by and they met again,
This time they were in school.
She was in the corner writing a poem,
And he was with his friends, acting cool.

But then the bully of their class
Went up to the girls table.
She was so much stronger than the girl,
So defend herself, she wasn't able.

By this time, the boy had had enough
And went up to the large girl.
He said, "If I see you mess with this girl again,
I'll mess up your world."

The bully was afraid of him,
Afterall, he was a boy.
"I was just playin man, I wasn't serious," she said.
"Well guess, what, she's not a toy."

The bully walked away
And the girl sat there completely stunned.
"I remember you wanted to be left alone last time," he said.
"But I had to help you with that one."

She smiled at this gorgeous boy,
Then she felt the warmness of her cheeks.
He smiled back, and asked her her name,
But she couldn't even speak.

"Well I'll tell you my name,
And I'm very pleased to meet you."
~Dang, this boy is beautiful, she thought,
~Look so good, I might just eat you!

She was about to tell him her name
But realize she had to go.
She ran off, without her notebook,
By the time he saw it, she was long gone; where to? he didn't know.

So, to be a gentleman,
He looked inside for her ID.
But what he saw on the sheets of paper,
Was far better indeed.

A few days later, he saw her
While walking down the hall.
And since he had her notebook still,
He knew what name to call.

She heard it through the noisy hallway
But couldn't quite place the sound.
But when she heard it a second time,
She hesitantly turned around.

In front of her, was the gorgeous boy,
The boy she'd thought about all day.
And he knew her name, this wasn't right,
It couldn't be, no way.

"I believe this is yours," he said with a smile
And he handed her her book.
She took it kindly, said thanks and walked away
Without even a second look.

"Hey, wait a minute!
I wanna ask you something."
The girl flinched,
She knew something bad was coming.

"What are you doing this weekend?
I'd really like to chill."
She couldn't believe her ears,
Was this popular guy for real?

In fact, he was, and she soon found out
That he liked her like she liked him.
She would soon find out that he really cared
And she wasn't just a whim.

They graduated that same year
And went to the same college.
They had their share of arguments
And they shared the same knowledge.

Then, after four years together
They went their separate ways.
But they thought about each other
Each and every day.

They became successful
In both of their careers.
But they hadn't forgotten each other,
Even after so many years.

Then one day, she was at the mall.
Going down the escaltor, she began to fall.
But a hand grabbed her, what a surprise
Then turned around and was looking in his eyes.

She couldn't believe who it was,
He was more handsome than he was young.
And at that moment, he knew
That only chance had begun.

They went to lunch and talked about their lives
And how without each other they were different.
Then they spilled their guts
About how one another had missed them.

Soon after this date in the mall,
These young two were married.
He gave her a piece of paper at their reception,
That each and every day she carried.

The paper was yellow by now,
But the words could still be read
She cried everytime she read it,
And this Is what it said:

~The other day I met a boy,
He was so different from his crew.
He actually wanted to help me out,
I didn't even know what to do.
I see him in class everyday,
But he doesn't notice I,
Perhaps it's because I haven't many friends,
Or maybe because I'm so shy.
But he looked at me in the eyes that afternoon,
And I hadn't a clue of what to say,
So I picked up my things and began to walk away.
But when I saw the glimmer in those brown eyes,
it took my breath away.
I feel it in my soul, I'm going to marry him someday.~

At the bottom of the paper, was something she didn't write,
But happy tears still fell from her eyes, by the brand new sight.
It was some more words, words from him and she could never believe the phrase,
"I thought the same thing," it said. "And it wasn't one of my phases.
~I saw your eyes and knew in my heart, that one day you'd be my wife,
But years ago even when we were so in love, the time just wasn't right.
But now I lay with you on my chest, and I finally feel complete.
You've had me ever since that first day. Head over feet.~

*Now the story end, my love, you can go to sleep,
I'll be in bed in a few, I just have to read.
Now, please don't tell this tale to a soul,
I'm leaving it with you and I trust
That you'll keep it with you, inside your heart,
The beautiful story of us.
