Never Alone

by Tim Parkins   Jul 25, 2008

I sit by myself.

Alone.

Through my open window,
the neighbourhood bustles with activity,
Yet here I sit.

Alone.

Laughter booms out from across the street.
I glance out my window,
just in time to see the neighbours sharing
an incredibly joyous moment together.
They are so happy!
Still, here I am.
Inside, and

Alone.

My telephone rings, and the sound is like music to my ears.
Finally!
My heart jumps to my throat with excitement,
racing to the phone.
But alas, a wrong number.
So I sit back down.

So very alone.

It is then that I see it,
standing oh so tall,
shining oh so bright,
just smiling at me.
My heart fills with wonder,
and my spirit begins to dance,
As I look upon the angel sent to me from heaven.

And right then,
In that moment of epiphany,
I know the truth.

We are NEVER alone.

Excellent poem (goosebump good) very nice structure to the poem that helped to really make this work, an epiphany or imagination who will ever know when loneliness messes with our minds.

This one has message. But I really don't like the last stanza. But overall it's okay.
