Fear

by Tim Parkins   Oct 7, 2011

The seagull approaches,
Overcomes his fear.
Slowly moving toward me,
Steady, Unwavering.
He shows no sign
Of falter or doubt.

His goal, the cracker
Lying discarded under my table.
He confidently goes after
His heart's desires
Despite the obvious danger
Of me, sitting, waiting.

Me,

Envious of the courage
Of the tiny little seagull,
The seagull with his eyes
Set in steel.
Wishing that I was strong enough
To do the same.
