Why I love you

A lovely young lady read something I wrote, the other day
She then asked me if my wife knew just how much she was loved
For what she had read was a poem written for my wife
So this is once more for you my love, for being the joy in my life

A rather far reaching question, has created quite a bit of thought in my mind
For, of all the millions of souls from which I could choose
Yours was the most special and most beautiful that I could find
And you're the one; I could never bear to lose

What a willing lover, the consummate wife
The one person that would dare stand up to me, and show me the light
She's not the strongest of woman, on that you can bet your life
But she'll budge not an inch if she knows she is right

Cursed with a terrible temper, you are the calming force to which I surrender
Always the calm one in our home
You've supported me with every endeavor
No matter how crazy, I was never alone

Our children are the result of the union between our bodies our minds and our souls
The ultimate expression of love between you and I
For you to sacrifice your life just to make me whole
Is something I could never repay no matter how I try

So I bring to you words, that some think are hollow
I try to care for you in my own hopeless way
But above all my darling I try not to be shallow
And I will treat you with love and devotion till the end of days

When I see you, all I want to do is touch
You make it difficult to breathe
Because I love you so much
This is why I give you my all and ask no reprieve
