Blissful Reprise

by Baine Willows   Aug 5, 2008

Bittersweet this world does taste,

As it's consumed, increasing haste.

The sun does fade, whilst shadows fall,

As noontime fades at night's beckoned call.

Unlike the stars, whose life holds fast,

Seasons on Earth can never last.

Like toes in the water, they take a sip,

Then dive right in for a quick dip.

Before the ground is fully met,

A new set peeks around the bend.

Then night-to-day ignites all life,

Beginning yet another strife.

Whilst in the dark, we find repose,

Sunshine leaves us to be exposed.

Stripped bare before the world are we,

And it gazes upon our impurities.

When will we find we cannot hide?

The truth of this cannot be denied.

The world is ending as dawn breaks,

The lies of life left in its wake.

Ever unbending animals are we,

Looking skyward while shouting pleas.

As never an answer falls from the sky,

We learn that faith is a disguise.

The mask torn from the face of life,

We gaze into our every plight.

So bittersweet this world does taste,

As its consumed, increasing haste.
