What You Are to Me

by RavishingEruption   Aug 11, 2008

It started out with words
Running across a page
Not exclusively to me
But to friends of a different age

Then bad news came
Pouring in like unwanted rain
I decided to get closer
Try to help and ease the pain

As conversations grew
So did the things I felt
I wished that I was with you
Just your name could make me melt

I told you how I felt
And you shared your feelings too
But you weren't quite sure
I didn't know what to do

Things went on for a while
Just friends talking as they do
But what I felt I couldn't hide
So again I told you

Things started getting worse
Your health wasn't great
I wanted to help you
But you wanted to take your fate

As the subjects changed
And conversations dwindled
My feelings changed as well
But the fire of love was kindled

I love you more than anything
I know I always will
But its as a friend
And I think that fits the bill

I know you're scared
I know you're feeling weak
But I'll always be here
Even when life seems bleak

**James, I know your life is hard right now. But I want you to know that I care. I always will. I love you like a brother.**

Awww....you're such a good friend, and this whole poem shows how much you care for him and how he's needs someone like you..

    "I know you're scared
    I know you're feeling weak
    But I'll always be here
    Even when life seems bleak"

Very powerful and heartfelt ending. Great word choice and rhyme throughout this whole poem. I hope he's doing okay. Keep writing, always and forever....
