New Years Eve

by LipstickLullabies   Aug 12, 2008

Just friends, I tell myself.
But the tension between us flares
in our eyes everytime they meet
across the bed

you sit like a king
me the Virgin, a white hart to be won.

The space on the sheet that divides us;
the barriers i secretly yearn
to break.

Everytime we meet,
We shouldn't be.
My best friend is infatuated (with you)
And your best friend last week's ex.
What you can't have,
You can't resist.

King of Hearts, your claim
With what Kings class as victories over every female name,
That's your reputation, you grew, with love,
More than what you gave them.
But
When we're alone,
No drugs,
No booze,
No lies,
No crimes.

Only darkness

I see in you what nobody sees,
I know what's beneath,
I know the warm heart.

It'll be our secret,
i made you smile.

My hands, I find, are wrapped in yours,
"Listen" you say,
"You can hear the sea,"
And the tides of my heart lap the shores,
In time with the ins and out of your breaths.
How did i get so close?
You pull me further
I resist, Pulling back.
My hands in my lap,
My head bowed in shame.

Nothing can happen between us.

You stroke the hair from my face,
Gently pushing my head upwards,
Our eyes, tie with invisible ropes.
You part these lips with a single stroke.

Closer. Nothing can happen between us.

Your rub your lips against mine.
Gentle.
But so fiercely is this
inflammation
bursting the bubbles
of temptation
i try to conceal

You kiss. Nothing can happen between us. Still.

You kiss.
I can resist no longer,
Your taste, a dive into a thousand oceans.

And it's there, on this New Year's Eve,
I begin to drown,
in regret.
