The Blue Collar Trot

by shenoa   Aug 13, 2008

I can see my life departing
Slowly across my vision
And what do I have to offer
From the years of affliction

These exasperated bones
Struggling with the injunctions
Withered muscles weaken
With my mind's tedious instructions

Polluted lungs disintegrating brain cells
From toxic fumes of machine's exhaust
Sleepless nights with aches and pains
A throbbing body from my grisly cough

The days when these legs can't bare
Another long twelve hour shift
I roll my ubwilling body out of bed
Fingers and joints unbearably stiff

We faithful zombies sway
To the constant rythem of the clock
Hunger and bills unrelenting
Lifelessly I dance the blue collar trot
