Red slip

by Ty ty Beee   Aug 14, 2008

Knock on the door.
Black car out front
A husband at war

She sees the general with a red slip
She knows whats to happen
and knows she can't take it

Her still-born was enough
not her husband too
She is not this tough

Another knock at the door
She hesitaites
Thinking this couldn't be

She unlocks the locks
opens the door
stares at the general

"mam, I'm sorry"

She falls to the floor
tears burst out of her eyes
she can't live with out him

The sounds of the guns at his funeral
go off and will now and forever haunt her dreams
along with the general
and the red slip....
