Phantom Father

by Lauren   Aug 20, 2008

I never really knew you,
You were never around to know,
Although I'm not sure I wanted to,
You weren't that great back then.

Choosing a needle over your kid,
Snorting and missing my softball games,
Why did mom put up with you?
Addiction is really lame.

Thanks for all the talks you gave,
And teaching me how to ride a bike,
Thanks for all the things you missed,
And not being around for my life.

So this is goodbye dear old dad,
I'm tired of constant pain,
I'm walking away and never looking back,
I refuse to feel any shame.
