Reoccuring

by CareBear   Aug 24, 2008

Here we are again
At this point in our reoccuring cycle
I try hard to please
While you dictate all those rules

I'll no longer keep
I'm older now yet I still feel so young
Your words making me fall
To my knees with tears pouring

To them we'll smile, put up a front
While you write the words I'll strive to fight
You won't win this time
Oh yes, I'll prove you wrong

As you tear me apart
Piece by piece with your undeniable disbelief
In a person you worked hard,
So hard to create

You are so ashamed
Can't pretend every word
You so carefully place on those lines
That form another letter

Addressed to the failure,
Were false and out of line
You can try to convince us both
That every step I take is a mistake

But I see it all differently now
You want to keep me here
So innocent and carefree
I've seen it all, I'm sorry to say

And the more you push me
In the direction that you want
The more I pull away.
