Happy Birthday Lizzy

by Michael D Nalley   Aug 28, 2008

Happy Birthday Lizzy
It seems we were busy
Writing about tomorrow
With no trace of sorrow
You were born august26 too
I have something in common with you
"More hope for tomorrow"
transcends
Where the spirit never ends
Who knows what's around the bend
"One step closer to the end?
As we run, we try to leave behind a smile"
we are only here for a very short while,
few like you would walk the extra mile
enchanted by the poet, like your style
The cause, God has sworn
"wanting" when we were born
inherent "motivation" to go on
"preparation" for when we are gone
You "organized" with hopeful results
we must face destiny as adults
Don't want to forget words you said
in the order you put them in my head
Oh, why must our hearts beat
when all we hear are our feet
"The way is clear", no need to run
a poets work is never done
Through the tears we've cried
what if we all tried

In memory of Eisabetta

Man that was very heartfelt and was a really great i enjoyed reading this

  • I have to say that I honestly wasn't expecting these.Usually when people ask me to read and comment poems about birthdays or what not I usually get bored with it.I don't rate it harshly it's just usually not my genre. But this was fantasic. The emotions were expressed well and the flow was nearly flawless. The word choice was great and it was beautifully written.5/5
