Growing Small

by Minkus   Aug 30, 2008

It's called civil disobedience:
Continual violation of rules,
Accompanied by a willingness to accept the consequences.
I wish I could find the courage to practice it,
But I have only once, when I was young,
And did not know its name.
But now that I know what to call it,
I have no bravery.
I am a coward now, as a teen,
And I was brave in second grade.
That was when I was willing to argue
And fight
For what I thought was right.
Now I give into authority,
Even when it is in the wrong.
I am no longer strong.
