People Always Leave

Two by two, four by four,
Pain and grief sprawled on the floor.
Three by three, five by five,
Hope and faith no longer alive.

Skip the stones, two at a time,
Trying to escape, this petty rhyme.
I run and hide, for awhile,
Been so long since I worn a smile.
Tired of this sorrow I feel,
I long for the days when I was real.

Two by two, four by four,
I watched as you walked out that door.
Three by three, five by five,
I was not ready to take this dive.

I waited frantically, for your return,
But you never looked back, oh when will I learn.
Four years my frazzled soul went on,
But nothing could change the fact you were gone.
My sombre heart slowly died,
Tears stroke down my cheeks, mournfully cried.

At my side you are no more.
Three by three, five by five,
My heart aches so but I still strive.

I ask one question, though you may not hear,
Why did you leave me so many a year.
You did not see, how you hurt me so,
Although I know it wasn't an intended blow.
How could you leave me with this pain I feel,
Not even a goodbye, not even a seal.

You'll soon find out why I no longer feel this sore.
Three by three, five by five,
Forget hope and faith, for I am no longer alive.

Read this carefully, for this is my death,
But it is strange, for I still draw breath.
And my heart still beats,
But strained with a retreat.
You were my other half, and without you I died,
And with that, you were the last tear I tragically cried.

Two by two, four by four,
Now do you understand, the painful tore.
Three by three, five by five,
I ponder a chance to revive.

There will be no funeral, no parted goodbyes,
No burial in the ground, where my soul lies.
I may still be alive, not literally dead,
But with this anguish I feel, I'd take death instead.
You're the one, who left me to dwell,
But I still wish the chance to bid you farewell.
