Something to Appreciate

There was a man dying on the road,
He drove too fast to get back home on time.
He called his family from his cellular phone,
Telling them they were his life.
And while He hung on by a final thread,
Someone overheard the words he said.

"It's my daughter's sweet sixteenth,
Tell her that I love her and she's beautiful.
I know it's going to get rough from here,
But Honey, Just stay strong,
And tell my baby girl to keep her faith.
Because this life is something to appreciate."

The woman fell to her knees outside her daughters door.
How was she going to tell her daughter tonight?
On this, her special day...
Her daddy won't make it home at all...
She didn't know where to start..
Trying so hard to protect her daughter's heart.

"My baby girl, You turned 16 today...
Your daddy says he loves you, and you're beautiful.
Right now things are going to get rough,
But I'm here, and together we'll stay strong.
Your dad told me to tell you to keep your faith,
Because this life is something to appreciate."

They held each other tight,
For those who Love will get hurt.
They went to his grave,
Holding onto the time before it began to fade.

That 16 year old woman
Got down on her knees and began to pray.

"My dearest daddy.
Today I turned sweet sixteen.
But it wasn't so sweet when we heard the news.
But Tonight, for you, I pray.
This Life is something to appreciate."
