Come Home Soon

by Painted on Smile   Sep 14, 2008

The days pass by
slower and slower with each week
I write down my thoughts
and the feelings of my heart
seal them with a stamp
and send them off to you

oh, how it is not fair
my words get to be with you
and feel your touch
while I sit here waiting
for that day to come

olive green eyes
tick away the seconds
as my hand flies
over the paper once again
sealing the final letter
with three extra words
"come home soon"

come home soon
come home to me
raise your arms
as I stare in disbelief
at the man who stands before me

no longer the boy I knew
you are yourself
but different somehow
for the light in your eyes
will never be the same

paper crinkles
as you embrace me
for there in your hand
are my letters
and the one certain envelope
upon which is written
three small words
"come home soon"
